Defence & Civil Protection Applications

Reini hydraulic submersible pumps are used in defence-related and civil protection applications where mobility, reliability and independence from electrical power are essential. Typical use cases include emergency water transfer, flood mitigation, infrastructure protection and support operations in challenging environments.

In practice, the pumps are commonly used in construction and engineering works for tasks such as excavation dewatering and temporary bypass pumping, as well as by rescue and civil protection authorities for damage control, flood response and water transfer during wildland and terrain fire operations.

Hydraulic operation allows the pumps to be powered directly from existing vehicles and machinery, such as trucks, engineering vehicles or containerised units. This enables rapid deployment and operation even in situations where electrical infrastructure is unavailable, damaged or intentionally limited.

Reini pumps can be used both as standalone units and as system components in mobile and engineered solutions. They can be powered by any machine or hydraulic power source capable of providing sufficient flow and pressure, allowing flexible use without permanent integration. When required, the pumps can also be integrated into mobile units or systems where predictable performance and straightforward operation are essential. Their robust construction and simple mechanical design support reliable use in demanding conditions and extended operations.

Case example: KESLA HydraX

One example of system-level integration is the KESLA HydraX concept, which combines mobile military vehicle washing, fire extinguishing and fire security capabilities for military exercises.

Before on-road or border-crossing transports, heavy military vehicles can be washed directly in forest conditions using natural water sources such as lakes and rivers. The same HydraX system also functions as a fire extinguishing and fire security solution during live firing exercises, helping to prevent forest fires from spreading to surrounding areas.

In addition, the system can be used for area protection and crowd control through controlled water spray functions.

Reini hydraulic submersible pumps are integrated as part of the HydraX water management solution, enabling reliable water intake and transfer in remote environments without reliance on electrical infrastructure.

A versatile firefighting solution: the Kesla Hydrax fills the extinguishing water tank on the bridge using a Reini-1R pump. Water pressure for firefighting is generated with a Reini-PP3 pump. The Hydrax is equipped with a tractor-controlled water cannon and also allows a hose and nozzle to be connected for manual firefighting operations.
